sv Tengai
1989 Catalina 36
Tengai means "Mythical Horizons"
This is our home—a 36-foot Catalina that somehow manages to be both cozy and capable that can cross oceans. We like to joke that she’s a little like Mary Poppin’s purse, small from the outside and magically roomy inside.
She’s built tough with a solid fiberglass hull, a beamy, confidence-inspiring stance, and just enough teak inside to remind you that boats are supposed to have a little soul.
Under the hood, she’s powered by a mostly reliable Universal 25 diesel pushing her along. Big enough to feel safe offshore, small enough to single-hand without breaking a sweat, this boat hits that sweet spot Catalina is famous for.
She’s not flashy—but she’s honest, proven, and always ready to go somewhere. If you believe boats are meant to be used, fixed, and loved… you’re in the right place.
